Our pioneering rail programmes are designed to address skills gaps and lack of diversity in the industry, as well as build resilience by providing sustainable employment opportunities to local communities across the UK.
Railways are an integral part of communities globally, enabling people to get to work, school, college and access new destinations every day. They are also the most cost-effective and efficient way to transport vast numbers of passengers and freight across the country.
EYC are passionate about raising the standard of rail skills and providing pathways into the vast array of career opportunities available. We partner with companies in the rail sector to create innovative and exciting training and development programmes to close skills gaps and build strong, diverse teams.
There is a skills shortage in the rail industry and underrepresentation of female employees and diverse ethnic backgrounds. Our goal is to address both the skills gap and the lack of diversity by creating pioneering programmes. With the major rail infrastructure projects underway, there are exciting opportunities for both employees and employers – we help both parties to maximise those opportunities.
Our Sector-based Work Academy Programmes (SWAPs) offer people a fast track into a career in Rail Track Engineering. The aim of our SWAPs is to train and nurture the finest rail engineers of tomorrow and provide them with the opportunity to have consistent and meaningful careers in the industry.
We deliver SWAPs in rail across the UK, with a focus on tackling the lack of diversity.
Our shorter non-funded courses are designed to upskill those already working in the rail industry. These courses can help rail engineers to increase their earnings potential and build a portfolio of skills to benefit their current and future employers.
Our short courses include:
